How do i dress up?
On the boat, the weather decides everything! So you better be prepared. Layering is the best system, if it's cold we add layers. In summer, t-shirts and shorts are ok. In cooler seasons a sweatshirt and long pants. Always, in all seasons, it is better to wear a jacket to protect yourself against rain. In summer, it's better to bring a cap, and a wool hat in winter.
What if there is bad weather?
Bad weather doesn't prevent you from having fun, on the contrary. Only in case of very strong winds and dangerous conditions, the skipper cancel the start. However, if there is the possibility, we can agree to sail on a different date.
What should i bring to eat and drink?
On half-day trips you will be offered drinks and fruit. On daily cruises, there will also be pizza and Ligurian focaccia, fruit, desserts and coffee. So you don't have to bring anything. For longer cruises, instead, you will have to do the shopping (galley).
How much will the galley cost?
No complicated dishes are cooked on the boat. 10 euros per day per person are enough to make the galley.
Do i have to buy the galley for the skipper too?
Yes, but together with the other crew members.
Where will i sleep?
There are 2 double cabins and two single beds in the dinette.
Do i have to bring bed sheets?
If you are single and you'll sleep in the dinette, I recommend the sleeping bag. If you are a couple you can bring double sheets. If you want the skipper can provide sheets and towels at the cost of € 15 per person.
Are we going to land?
During the cruises it is possible and it is very nice to go down to visit the most beautiful villages.
OPHELIE is equipped with tender and outboard motor.
Will we go to the restaurant?
If you and the crew want to dine on the ground, it will be great to choose the nicest restaurant in the square of the picturesque village.
Can i smoke on board?
If iy doesn't bother other crew members, yes. But smoking below deck is forbidden.
Will it be possible to go fishing?
No, we love the sea and those who live there.
Will i be able to swim, dive and snorkel?
Sure. The sea we will visit is warm and transparent and around the Gallinara Island the wonderful seabeds swarm with multicolored fishes. OPHELIE has some masks and fins on boar, but if you prefer yours, you can bring them. In addition, you'll find a fun SUP on board.
Are there any dangers?
Sailing is not dangerous. Of course you have to use your head and follow the advices and prescriptions of the skipper.
Is it true that you have to take off your shoes on the boat?
Yes, in summer it's nice to be barefoot. With shoes, however, your feet are more protected from small bumps. Shoes should be sail shoes or trainers with a white and clean sole, to be used only on boats.
Will i be able to steer?
Sure, if you want you can participate in all the maneuvers and try all the roles.
Is it compulsory to participate in the manoeuvres?
Surely not! If you want, you can relax and sunbathe.
How much does it cost to moor in ports?
Not much! It depends on the ports: a boat like OPHELIE pays from 20 to 40 euros per night, to be divided among all the crew.
How much diesel does the boat consume? And how much does diesel cost?
Very little! OPHELIE consumes 3 euros of diesel fuel per hour. But it almost always goes sailing. Often it consumes nothing.
I booked a cruise and i can't come anymore, do i lose the deposit?
If you warn us in enough time to find a replacement, the money will be returned to you. Otherwise you can agree with the skipper to move the date of your experience.
